As a Charity we rely heavily on volunteers giving up their free time, however it is also important to us that our volunteers enjoy what they do so the work is flexible to fit in with their lifestyle, holidays etc.
We also pay travel expenses so you are not out of pocket coming to and from the charity as well as a meal allowance if you are out on a day trip.
We are looking for volunteers to befriend visitors using our Let’s Chat hubs for a couple of hours each week.
You can choose to work in our Walsall or West Bromwich Hubs or on our Mobile Hub which visits various locations around the Walsall area.
Hubs operate between 10am & 2-3pm Monday – Friday and volunteers would chat to visitors, serve refreshments, and assist staff in signposting users to other voluntary services available in the area.
An ideal voluntary position for anyone who likes to chat!
Volunteers are needed to help with our Door to Door Shopping Services.
These routes run every weekday from 10.30am onwards in the Bloxwich, Aldridge & Pheasey areas of the Borough.
The work would involve driving a minibus, collecting our older residents from their homes and taking them to their local supermarket where they would have approximately 1 hour to complete their shopping before returning them to their homes.
All shopping services have the support of a second person on the vehicle to assist in carrying shopping and helping passengers on and off the vehicle.
Volunteers are constantly needed to help provide transport for other voluntary and community groups.
Often voluntary organisations do not have the support of a driver from within their group and want to book our vehicle with a driver.
To keep costs as affordable as possible for them we rely on the support of our team of volunteer drivers to provide this service.
Our volunteers can choose the type of organisations they wish to support (i.e. elderly groups, sports groups, young people etc.) and the distance they are comfortable travelling.
Some of our drivers only like driving in the local Walsall area, some however like to go further afield to Llandudno, Bridgnorth, NEC or Derbyshire for example.
We provide full training to enable drivers to drive a minibus through the MiDAS driver awareness scheme. Drivers will need to be over 25 years of age and have no more than 3 points on their driving licence.
Our less mobile users may require the use of a passenger lift to access the vehicle so full training on the use of all equipment is given as part of our induction.
These volunteer roles are extremely satisfying, supporting your local community, being part of a friendly team, meeting new people and learning new skills.
